      First, rainforests are a very important ecosystem.  Of all the ecosystems in the world, they have the highest biodiversity which means different kinds of plants and animals.  For example, rainforests cover less than 2% of Earth’s surface, yet they house more than 50% of the plants and animals on Earth.  Wow!  This is an incredibly important ecosystem to protect and conserve.
